The Voronezh park UFO landing
Soviet reports said that on 27 September 1989 children playing in a Voronezh park saw a red ball in the sky, then a three-eyed alien and a robot.
A Soviet newspaper issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party quoted witnesses who placed the landing on a warm evening, 27 September 1989. The place was a city park in Voronezh. According to the news agency TASS, boys playing football there noticed a pink glow overhead, then a deep red ball about three metres across. The ball circled, vanished, came back minutes later and hovered.
The children said a three-eyed alien stepped out, wearing bronze boots and a disk on its chest, together with a robot. One retelling puts the alien at nine feet tall, in silver overalls, and describes a door sliding open on the ship. The children said the alien fired a ray gun that made a 16-year-old boy vanish until the object left.
The Associated Press relayed the Soviet paper's account to readers abroad. Wikipedia adds that the area has since drawn UFO-hunting tourists.
"According to TASS, boys playing football in a city park "saw a pink glow in the sky, then saw a deep red ball about three metres in diameter. The ball circled, vanished, then reappeared minutes later and hovered". The children claimed to have seen "a three-eyed alien" wearing bronze coloured boots with a disk on the chest, and a robot, exiting the object.[4][2] According to the children, the alien used a ray gun to make a 16-year-old boy disappear until the object departed.[5]"
