The Falcon Lake incident
On 20 May 1967 Stefan Michalak, an amateur geologist, said he saw two glowing craft while prospecting around Falcon Lake, Manitoba. One, he said, set down on rocky ground.
On 20 May 1967, Stefan Michalak was out looking for quartz in the Falcon Lake area of Manitoba. Live Science describes him as an amateur geologist. By his own retellings, agitated geese swooped past him, and he saw two glowing cigar-shaped craft overhead. One flew off. The other, he said, set down on rocky ground close by.
Wikipedia records what followed that afternoon. Around 3 p.m., Falcon Beach Highway Patrol Constable G. A. Solotki was on Trans-Canada Highway 1, at the wheel, when Michalak flagged him down. Michalak told the constable to keep his distance, saying he feared passing on a skin disease or radiation.
Snopes says that what Michalak saw remains unexplained, and that it upended his life and his family's. It adds that Michalak never described what he saw as an extraterrestrial ship.
