The Count of St Germain's death record
A church register in Eckernforde records the Count of St Germain's death on 27 February 1784. Later writers say he never died.
Wikipedia dates the Count's death to 27 February 1784, at his residence in the factory, while Charles was staying in Kassel. The death went into the register of the St. Nicolai Church in Eckernforde. A writer on the Count places the parish records in a Catholic church, so sources differ on the church. The register entry records that he was buried locally.
According to one account his tombstone described him as a person who went by the title of Comte, of St Germain and Welldone, adding that nothing else is known of him. The same account says he used the names St Germain and Weldon, and that spellings of the second name vary.
The survival stories came afterwards. The Rosicrucians claim the Count is still alive and earlier went by the name Sir Francis Bacon. Other writers place him in 1785 beside Anton Mesmer, and that Freemasonry records show him chosen as a representative to a convention that year. Later sightings are claimed for 1789, then 1815, 1820 and 1821. These are claims by later writers and groups.
