The Fox Alien Autopsy broadcast

On 28 August 1995 Fox aired a special on film of an alien body examination. In 2006 Santilli, who supplied the footage, said it was his own reconstruction of an earlier film.

Fox first aired a special on the film on 28 August 1995. Mental Floss says the network presented it with a dose of scepticism and enlisted experts, including pathologists and the special effects maker Stan Winston, to comment on the footage. Viewers were left to decide whether it was evidence of alien life.

Ripley's reports that Santilli submitted sections of the footage to Kodak, and that by his account Kodak replied the part it viewed could date from 1927, 1947 or 1967.

In 2006, Mental Floss says, Santilli stated that the film Fox and other networks showed was a reconstruction made by him of a genuine 1947 autopsy film that had deteriorated. He made the statement while promoting a mockumentary on the same story. Snopes says the staged film was shot in a small London flat converted into a set, and that John Humphreys, interviewed in the film, built the creature from scratch in over three weeks.
